Laughter is always the best medicine. There are many comics doing tours in the year of 2012 that have been on the rise over the past decade. From comics who have done full T.V. shows to comics who have done small hour long bits on Comedy Central there is something for any audience. One of the most surprising rises in comedy is Jeff Dunham, who over the past few years has made his way onto becoming one of the most highly paid and well known comics.
The comedians:
One of the best roasters at New York’s Friar’s Club Roast, Lisa Lampanelli is finally headlining an American tour to showcase her hilarious comedy. She has been on the New York comic scene since 1990 and has come a long way from her small shows. Gaining most of her notoriety through the Friar’s Club Roast, Lisa has gone on to roast celebrities like Flava Flav, Donald Trump and William Shatner. Lisa has also starred in a few films in the mid to late 00’s.
“Fluffy” comedian Gabriel Iglesias has come a long way since he was on the Comedy Central show Last Comic Standing. After being disqualified from the show for using his Blackberry, Gabriel went on to release numerous comic DVDs and in 2009 broke through into mainstream success. Best known for his shows ‘I’m Not Fat….I’m Fluffy’ and ‘Hot & Fluffy’ the comedian pokes fun at being overweight and adds jokes about his everyday life to his stand up.
Jeff Foxworthy has gained heavy notoriety over his 27 year long career. Getting mainstream success with his own self titled T.V. show, Jeff’s comic routines surround jokes about red neck living and mentality. Surprisingly enough he is more famous for his other hit show, Blue Collar T.V. which starred fellow comics, Bill Engvall and Larry The Cable Guy. The show was on for 2 seasons and surrounded the routine of making fun of redneck stereotypes.
Being remembered for the early 00’s AT&T commercials, Carrot Top has finally hit the big time with his comic routines. In 2011 he got a residency at the Las Vegas Luxor Hotel & Casino to perform his stand up. The hotel has claimed him to be “The Comedian of The Year.” In 2008 he was a guest judge for Comedy Central’s Last Comic Standing. He has appeared in numerous films and T.V. shows, many times as himself.
Ventriloquist and comedian Jeff Dunham has worked hard at his career. Forbes ranked him as the third highest paid American comic after Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock. With four comedy central specials under his belt, Jeff quickly became one of the most well known comics on T.V. In the late 80’s to the early 90’s Jeff was a talent Booker for the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
